    • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

    • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?

  • During an initial therapy assessment, clients can expect a safe and confidential space where the therapist will aim to get to know them better and familiarize themself with the clients needs. This may involve discussing the client's reasons for seeking therapy, their personal history, current challenges, and goals for therapy.

A good therapeutic relationship is essential to your therapy journey. Your therapist will take the time to explore whether both the client and therapist feel they are a good fit for working together.

It is normal for clients to feel apprehensive about therapy. This is a new experience that will require you to be vulnerable with yourself. Therapists understand this apprehension and can help by providing a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, answering any questions or concerns the client may have, and working collaboratively to establish a sense of trust and rapport.

The assessment process may also involve completing questionnaires or assessments to gather more information and tailor the treatment approach to best meet the client's needs.

  • Therapists can offer a non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, work through past traumas, set and achieve personal goals, and ultimately improve your overall well-being. Therapy is a collaborative process that can help you navigate life's challenges, build resilience, and move towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

A number of benefits are available from participating in therapy. Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues and creative blocks. Many people also find that counselors can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues, and the hassles of daily life. Therapists can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn. Some of the benefits available from therapy include:

    • Attaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals and values

    • Developing skills for improving your relationships

    • Finding resolution to the issues or concerns that led you to seek therapy

    • Learning new ways to cope with stress and anxiety

    • Managing anger, grief, depression, and other emotional pressures

    • Improving communications and listening skills

    • Changing old behavior patterns and developing new ones

    • Discovering new ways to solve problems in your family or marriage

    • Improving your self-esteem and boosting self-confidence

  • Clients can expect the duration of mental health therapy to vary depending on their unique circumstances and treatment goals. There is no set timeline as each individual's experience is personal and different. Therapy length can range from a few sessions to several months or even years. The frequency of sessions, progress made, and the complexity of issues being addressed all contribute to the length of therapy. It's important for clients to communicate openly with their therapist about their expectations and goals to work together towards their desired outcomes.

We like to remind clients to have patience and empathy with themselves when it comes to the length of healing. Especially when it comes to trauma. Alissa like to say "remember you have a lifetime of learning and living with/from that trauma, it's ok and normal for it to take a while to relearn and heal from those traumas."

 Policies

  • Payment and/or copays are due at the time of session. We accept most major credit cards. Our services are also eligible for HSA pay.

A credit card must be on file before the first session. All clients will be required to enroll in auto pay with the credit card on file.

  • If you are unable to attend your therapy session, please remember to cancel with in 24 hours notice. There will be no cancelation fee if cancelled before 24 hours prior to your session. You will be responsible for the entire session fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours.

If you are more then 15 mins late to your session, with no attempt to contact me, this will be considered a no-show and you will be charged the full session fee. These are necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you.

If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

  • In the event of a genuine emergency necessitating the cancellation of a scheduled mental health therapy appointment at Serenity Springs Counseling and Wellness, clients are permitted one free cancellation per calendar year. A genuine emergency is defined as a sudden, unexpected situation that requires immediate attention and prevents the client from attending their scheduled session.

Examples of genuine emergencies may include severe illness, accidents, giving birth, car accidents, or unexpected hospitalizations. Emergencies will not include scheduling conflicts, work conflicts, lack of childcare, forgetting to put your appointment in your calendar, etc.

Clients are required to notify their therapist as soon as possible to inform them of the emergency and to reschedule the appointment for a later date.

  • Confidentiality is one of the most important components between a client and psychotherapist. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist’s office. Every therapist should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent”. Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team (you’re your Physician, Naturopath, Attorney), but by law your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission.

However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:

    * Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
    * If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threated to harm another person.

  • Due to the importance of client confidentiality and the need to avoid dual relationships, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).

I hold the belief that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can jeopardize client confidentiality and both parties' privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. Clients are encouraged to bring up any questions or concerns about this during sessions for further discussion.
